I am planting a Mexicola and a seedling of Mrs. Holland. I have a hole seven feet wide and a foot and a half deep that is ready for me to amend the soil and plant. Both trees will be in the same hole about twenty four inches apart and they will be planted on a twelve inch mound. Both of mine are a Type A. Is Winter a Type B?

You live a little bit North of the Avocado belt. Are yours planted in pots?

Grow Lula. It can take the winters in your locale and is a great tasting cado.
That's why I'm growing it in PSL. Otherwise it would be a W Indian type.

Not sure if it's type A or B. It's supposed to be good to 20*. I was also told not to ammend the soil when putting a new plant. Keeping mt fingers crossed!

Yeah I heard that too!
My "Soil" is pretty much sand so my amendments will actually be bringing it closer to real soil. Anything I can do to help the soil hold on to nutrients and water within reason will be of benefit to the avocado.
I also tend to bend the rules occasionally. So far it has worked for me. I guess you just have to apply a little common sense to which rule you are breaking.
