At the rare fruit club last week noticed a plate of sliced naners. The flesh was white. They tasted pretty good. So I found the donater and he said they were Ice Cream as I suspected from the color.
Visited yesterday and he has old 2 multi trunk mats of them. The leaves match venturaban's descriptions. Long petioles and narrow long leaves. Got a ladder and cut some fruit off an immature bunch.
Fruit have elongated pedicels and the skin color is, well, blu-ish.
First pic shows color contrast with a recently harvested hand of Datil.

This pic shows the long pedicels - finger stems.

Almost certain that it is the real deal. I was at the super market tonight and they had a bunch, so I bought one. Just one banana. They look like it. Just a lot older and fatter. How did you like it? They are just okay to me. I am pulling my mat out as soon as my bunch is harvested. Not good enough.

Threw them in the compost heap. None of the fruit on the 2 mats was ripe. All stunted and immature. Growing wild - no fertilizer. This guy has 3 acres full of 20 and 30 ft mango, avocado, loquat and lychee trees. Property was a cow pasture for many years and the soil is loaded. Some spots not so much. He avoids using fert cause any given area may be high in N and K and a tree could be killed off.
I bought a 6 ft loquat. Just found out how good they are and it will grow here with no problem.

I'm pretty sure I have the real thing as well now too. Unfortunately, the plant is still really small and probably won't flower for another good year and a half.

We wear clothes at our rare fruit club, eh mola mola!
And the final verdict is in on the Ice Cream Blue Java --- tastes crappie!!!
Good for composting! Even still, somebody at club auction will bid on a IC pup.
