I thought I'd start a thread about any endangered plant species you might come across or be growing.
This is the Metcalf Canyon jewelflower, an endangered annual wildflower in the mustard family native to serpentine soils in the Coyote, California area. It is known from only 10 occurrences in the wild. The campus garden is currently growing a number of individuals for seed production; the goal is to produce about 90,000 seeds that will be used to repopulate the species in its native habitat. They've been growing really nicely in the garden, and they really seem to enjoy it there. Some of them are beginning to flower.
