So in my quest to grow things that require a frost free environment, but take less than 2 years to produce, I have happened upon turmeric. I am a little bit worried though as my order from East Branch Ginger has been delayed twice. Apparently something is going on in Hawaii where the seed pieces come from. Is anyone else growing turmeric? Is it fairly easy to grow? Got any pictures?

Very easy to grow. I stuck the roots in the ground and then left them alone. I harvested the batch about 3 months ago.

I've got some turmeric and I am not in a frost-free zone. I'll have to go take a look at it and see if it has made it through the freeze we had a couple nights ago

I had just about given up on the turmeric after it didn't come up after 2.5 months in the ground. Once the rainy season kicked up, it came up.

Beautiful. Post pictures of the flowers if they are able to.

I am currently growing several types of ginger & tumuric. Just recently got a new "super" orange variety. Has more than double the curcumin as the commercial crop. We also have a beautiful black turmeric.

I just started growing ginger and turmeric myself. Just stuck some pieces of each in the ground and waited, it did seem to take a while to sprout though.
