Last year our Farmer's Market required that we get $1,000,000 liability insurance. Cost per vendor was $75. This year, the cost per vendor is $260, more than triple last years cost.
a) Do your organizations require such insurance?
b) What rate do you normally pay per year? I do about 25 markets per year.
Thanks

I work for a local flea market providing security and there are several fruit and vegatable vendors. We do not require anything from the vendors. We will stop vendors from renting space if there are known law violations such as selling counterfeit merchandise. It is up to them to comply with all federal, state and local laws, ordinances and codes. The state will occasionally send inspectors to the market to verify compliance of the vendors but not the market.

You might be able to buy your own liability insurance cheaper. Ours didnt require it.

I go to the flea market in Mobile and that is not a requirement. If I had to pay that it wouldn't be worth going.
