Theres a house down the road for sale. Frosts and fertilizer could be a thing of the past for you.

I hear you! I'm as far south, in Alabama, as you can go and stay on the mainland and the forecast says low 30's one night next week. I've got a big bud sitting atop my mystery banana and if it goes below freezing and takes it out I'm going to be one pissed-off man. Here we are almost through winter and a big freeze hits us. If I lived where it stayed cold all winter it wouldn't be so bad, but to get 1 or 2 freezes a year sucks.

Why don't we check out that house for sale that Nicolas mentioned and then we can move to South Florida

There are still plenty of forclosed homes where I am and more forclosures every day. You can find a bargain for sure. The president of my rare fruit club is a realtor - let me know.

Thanks For The info everyone ..

I am definitely moving from NE Fl once my little girls finish school , the schools in st johns county are A+ Rated schools nationwide .

Once there out , I would like to explore the south west coast of Fl , mainly Naples & Cape Coral , any of those 2 where i can get at least 1 acre .

I would like to grow Bananas , Mangos Avacados, & Guanaba Trees ..:nanadrink:

Yeah I have been working in West Africa for the past month and a half and was going to get my wife to unwrap the bananas that I winterized but she said it's still pretty cold there so I told her never mind, and today I looked at the 5 day forecast and it's showing day 5 to be close to 33 so maybe sometime in March we'll uncover. Would hate to unwrap too early and loose everything I worked so hard to protect.

Bo, I hate to break it to you, but look at Sat. night. Upper 20's. I have uncovered the one that I had gone to the trouble of covering and now I've got to get back on that ladder again. Floolish me for thinking the last cold snap would be it. Usually after mid February the worse is over.

I only covered the one because it has a big bud on it. I hope that after it has fruit that I can identify what it is. It's near 10 feet tall.

Terry, I was afraid of that, each time I would check the 5 day forecast, it kept getting lower and lower. My wife called the boat today and said they've had so much rain that the yard looks like a lake, so sounds like a big cold front pushing down, hate to hear that. Glad everything's still wrapped up. Dan gave me me a Psang Kloteck that I am trying to baby.
Guess I better check weather.com

The forecast is calling for 39 sunday morning. 39 in March is about as aberrant as snowfall. What is going on, it's 83 degrees now. My real hope is that they will blow this forecast by about 5 degrees like they have all the others.

They don't account for the warming effect of the lake nearly enough, especially on cold nights.

The cold snaps are killing me! I swear we never got this many nights of freezing before I planted bananas this year!
