It's a regular rhino horn from Agristarts, not the dwarf.

I have never planted suckers from December-February, and I always take all the leaves off except the cigar leaf.

I plant every week and during the warm months the younger leaves do fine,
but during the winter I get a high percentage of plants that will bind.
Monitoring positive growth when it's colder is too difficult with the top on.
If there's no growth in 7-10 days I just remove a few more inches.
It will be interesting to see Dan's results.

Nice Pups ! Nick Has Some Healthy Pups !
I not quite sure what an unhealthy pup would look like.
About two weeks ago, I was with a client who had buckets of corms that were moldy, rotting, and covered with weevil holes.
They were sitting in the buckets for two or three weeks, I grabbed a few and stuck them in a low humidity room for a few days.
Three days after planting they all look beautiful and healthy.
BTW, it's another unknown false horn.

Lately, I've been playing with corm bits. You can give them a hot water treatment or hit them with a fungicide and insecticide and put them in a pot and a few months later you have a really nice clean plant.

I used the corm bits or slices on my first major expansion, but everything I read said it produced poor quality plants.
In my experience the plants were fine and the yield normal, but growth was very slow in the beginning and I hated doing all the subdividing. It definitely works well if you want to expand a cultivar quickly.
With the hot water treatment, the more I read the less effective it appeared.
The 5 degree window seemed to difficult to maintain and the percentage of effectiveness was so low, how would you know if it even worked.
126 to 131°F for 15 to 27 minutes - 33% effective
or
109°F for 3 hours - 99% effective
and there's no consensus on if the percentages are even accurate.
I find it easier to have a bunch of replacement plants on hand, if a plant falls behind for whatever reason it just gets replaced.

Ah, the joy of being warm. We got what we hope to be the final cold snap this winter. All in all it was a fairly mild winter and so far just some burnt leaves. Of course we did a lot of moving plants since we have so many tenders, but they all look good and will return to the outside tomorrow. Stay waarm and good growiwng.

I learned long ago to cut off all leaves except the cigar. And shortening the trunk to expose new growth earlier for cold stressed pups. Did surgery to split trunk till new growth found many times.

I've been putting them in the greenhouse this winter. They grow great.
