I have two main clumps of Basjoos that I've done my typical 'cut off near the ground and heavily mulch' thing, but one other clump I'm trying something different. I've left this 15' high clump intact with the brown leaves drooping along the stems. I left those for protection against the cold. So far we've been in the high 20's a few times and the stems still have some green and seem to be standing tall and are firm. Last winter my cut-off clumps were poking through the pine straw in mid to late February. Mid to late February I'll remove the dead leaves from the standing clump and see what happens. I have several other types that I dug and they are in the garage doing fine with no soil or watering, they'll get planted closer to Easter which is usually the last frost around here. I've had good luck with the Thai Giant elephant ears by cutting them off at the ground and mulching heavily....they get HUGE in the summer! Also experimenting with a clumping Miscantheus that did well as a screen last summer. I hope they come back as I've not tried those before. They were about 10' high when I cut them back. Home Depot sells 'cold hardy' palms every spring but they get zapped by the frost every year....so much for 'cold hardy'. I do have a palm that is doing great and has no problem with Atlanta winters. My neighbor has one that is about 20' tall and I'm seeing more and more palms used in the Atlanta area. My Daffodils are already blooming so spring is right around the corner!!! :woohoonaner:

Wow, I lived in Atlanta many years ago, before I was into growing much of anything. I went to school there. Is that normal for your daffodils to be blooming already? Around here it's usually end of March or April.
