Hello everyone first time poster here just trying to find out the best way to germinate my Musa Veluntina seeds.
Right now i have 4 of them in Tissue Culture on a half strength Murashige and skoog basal salts with 2mg/L Gibberellic acid medium And four on a
half strength murashige and skoog basal salts + 10mg/L Gibberellic acid medium.
None of the seeds were scarified and it has been about two weeks without any signs of germination... If anyone knows of a better media to use for germination i would truly appreciate the info.
Also if you think it would be easier to do it in soil then in tissue culture could you please explain? Thank you!
Best regards,

Soak for 3 days, put into a 50/50 mix of vermiculite and multipurpose compost and alternate the temperatures day and night.
What you are describing would be good for embryo rescue, but you have to take the embryo out first.

All they take to germinate is heat , moisture and oxygen. No special medium is needed other than one that does not hold excessive water.

You can do or just make sure they don't dry out.

Did you scarify the seeds first? and if not what % of the seeds germinated? i only have 10 musa velutina seeds to works with and really want at least one to germinate lol thanks alot!! also how in the world did you get the temperature up to 30 celsius in a home lab?? i would melt if my house was that hot not to mention the price of heating it :/ i have thought about using a heatpad and a terrarium before but i couldnt figure out a good way to regulate the temperature... kept getting too hot :/ can you buy heatpads with an adjustable temperature dial?
Cheers!

i wish you to have a high germination % !
i had once about 30 % with a batch of sikkimensis seeds, but "normal" germination rate is 10 to 15 % (from my little experience)
actually i have a batch of about 100 musa velutina seeds (from EPS member) i am trying but no success till now. (1 month =0 germination)

I have Musa Velutina germinating about 6 months now, and nothing has popped up either. I soaked 2 days and did not scarify. They've been in peat/vermiculite mixture over heating matt and not dried out and not soaked either.
Good luck with yours!
