Might be too acidic by itself.

i use it,sometimes mixed with a little loose rockwool..as well as my marcotting experiments..never had a bit of trouble with it..i do the soak and rinse a few times..am even trying it with some upland cotton cuttings..so far so good on thoes..great for potting orchids in aswell
