Here is a picture of my Musa Basjoos from this past fall. Even though the trunks didn't die back last winter they still never flowered which is fine with me. They were growing like weeds!

What is the tallest Musa Basjoo that anyone has seen? Mine were past the roof of the 2nd story of the house. They just didn't seem to want to stop growing!

In Bon Air in Chesterfield county.

Nice mat of bananas, those are robust . I wish mine were that nice:)
The ones here in southwest Ohio that I see only get 8 to 12 feet tall with total die back in the winter.
I lived nearby in Woodlake for a while. Richmond is a beautiful area.
Things I miss are Maymont,Ukrops grocery store , and watching the Bald eagles along the historic James river.
Keep those nanners growing!!!

Wow! I've been looking into some plants that would thrive in virginia and it looks like Musa Basjoo is the best choice! Great job :nanadrink:

I ordered one Musa Basjoo from Plant Delights Nursery in 2000 I think and I have gotten probably over 2-3 hundred plants from that one. I have given them to friends who have given them to their friends, etc. My sister and her neighbors all have Musa Basjoo growing in their yards now in NC. I have people driving by and stopping to ask about them and I end up giving plants to them!

Very nice plants! The leaves aren't even shreaded at all, all nice and green. Good work! How do u winterize them?
