I live in poole Dorset in the uk we have been growing tropical plants including bananas successfully now for the past 10 years i grow several types my largest being ensete montbeliardii this grows about 3m high each season we have recently moved house and took all our bananas with us i curently have over 30 plants protected in a frost free garage with one trial musa basjo clump with straw and fleece left in the garden I will let you know if they survive

Welcome! Have you grown any edible/dessert types? A huge portion of the UK is zone 8, which is good enough to grow varieties like Rajapuri, Namwah, etc with protection over winter. In fact I've heard of some people getting Rajapuri to fruit in the UK. Not the best quality fruits due to cool summers, but hey, they were bananas.
