Hello!
I planted the first banana two years ago, a little pup grew fast a month ago put out the flag leaf. Now is coming the winter and I think that the plant will stop to develop fruit.
We don't have freeze here, but is not warm enough for a vegetative growth.
The flower will resume to develop fruit in march or I have to forget to eat fruit the next year?
The plant is a "Comune di Sicilia", probably an Orinoco, the ancient cultivar imported from Arab, endemic in the island of sicily for at least 1000 year.

I've had fruit hang on my Orinocos for close to a year, when they've been silly enough to flower too late in the season.
They pretty much go dormant when it gets cold & resume growth & development when the temperatures get more to their liking.

It looks from the picture like maybe it could use a prop on the bloom. Hopefully the pseudo stem isn't kinked yet, but it kind of looked like it to me in the picture.

As long as they don't freeze, they should be fine. They'll just take a long time to ripen. My Orinocos that flowered in fall last year took a year to ripen, but we never have very warm weather to speed up the process.

I post an upgrade of my first banana bunch, the flower come out in december, not a good time for a good result, but it is still growing.

End of January:

then after a rain of hail and a rain of vulcanic stones (thanks to Etna for the free fertilizer) the plant lost all leaves, the bunch was damaged at the top.
End of March:

in the winter (jan-feb) the temperature was almost always between 7 and 15 degrees celsius, with an absolute minimum of +0.7° c.
