I would like to put an uplight in my bird of paradise pot. What CFL am I buying?
Also would it be the same for my bananas?
Thanks,
Fran

Buy any one that has a blue spectrum 6400K if you want vegetative growth and red spectrum if it's flowering.
Buy one within your price range, the higher the wattage the more light and so the faster growth, but the electricity bills will be higher.
It will be the same for bananas.
Out of interest why do you feel you need a light for your bird of paradise? They are south african plants and the change in day length triggers flowering. Otherwise it's best to let them go dormant.

I am actually not sure if I do need a light on it. I found this plant about a month and half ago and asked on here what it was. From what I gathered it is a white Bop . I put it in my family room next to a window seems to be doing ok , but the last week has been pretty cloudy and got me to thinking. I also asked on here if they do go dormant, but I don't think I got an answer. This is my first year with bananas and now bop. Just trying to make it threw the winter with some of these bananas indoors. Maybe I will just put the lights on them.
Thanks,
Fran

I wouldn't bother with the light. Plants have a natural cycle, give it a rest in the winter.

white bird of paradise is a real easy one to overwinter. And if you don't give it too much light in the winter and it only grows in summer then it won't outgrow your house so quickly. They get BIG
