Of course would have said a'ea'e, but would have to go with "Red Iholena." A close 2nd as far as most beautiful banana plant I have, and the fruit is good and dual purpose. Hua Moa would be #3--gorgeous plant, delicious especially cooked, and an unusual shaped fruit. Ok, I know you only asked for 1.
Hard to decide. Probably Ae Ae first, although if a true Mahoe could be located I'd lean very strongly in that direction. A true Iholena Ula Ula would also favor strongly in my preference list. I also am very fond of Manai Ula with its reddish young 'nanners (since I only know of 4), and I also am quite fond of my (maybe) Iholena Lele type with the heavily marked leaves.

Are the other hawaiian varieties as quick as Hua Moa to mature. Hua Moa for me is 60 days from flowering to maturity.

Last week a friend of mine gave me an Iholena, but it was partly rotted. He cut out the rot and told me that it still had a chance. I have been working on it. Not sure if it will survive. I must say that this little plant has got me thinking about my Hawaiian roots, and now I would like to grow some Hawaiian musa. It's really sad how these are nearing extinction here in Hawaii. Have to try and keep it going. Can't let BBTV win that easy.

Kepler and Rust (Hawaiian banana book) say all the Iholena and Popoulu (including Hua Moa) varieties are fast to mature, taking 65-75 days from bud to harvest in Hawaii, whereas all the Maoli varieties (including Ae Ae) take 110-150 days to mature. I know nothing about them personally since I'm not growing any of them. For reference, they say Dwarf Brazilian, Rajapuri, and other Pome varieties take more like 170 days to mature when grown in warm areas near sea level in Hawaii.

I can vouch for the Pome varieties taking 6 months to mature. I have 5 bunches that are 2 months apart. All fuited between August and October. The earliest one looks to be about a month to month and half til they are ready.
Yug's Ae Ae took about 4.5-5 months to harvest.
