I had 4 Icecreams (false so Dwarf Namwah) that flowered this year as well as a Dwarf Orinoco and without a doubt the taste, flavor and texture goes to Icecream!
i live in Dallas it is a lot of work to make them fruit here...
I honestly dont think that I will even try to produce fruit on the Dwarf Orinoco next year. Since
Unfortunately my Dwarf Brazilian didn't flower until September so it wont mature in time but I will have a p-stem in the garage over winter that I hope will make it so I can taste that one. please tell me it is different to the Orinoco!

I also have a Mona Lisa that is in the right size to flower next year if I can have it survive in the garage over winter. Apart from that I will focus on my Icecreams. More cold tolerant and fast growing plus the best fruit. Cant beat that in my opinion!

Just my 2 cents...

If you're sure about your IC's being IC's why do your gallery pic titles have question marks. :ha:

So many of us have been duped. I had the boxes all ready to go.

Hey there, Im not sure if you were asking or telling but I also have both Orinoco and dwarf brazilian. There is no likeness between the two of them. The D. Brazilian is definitely a desert banana. Very good and sweet. I can not imagine cooking them at all. But I have also been growing and COOKINg orinoco;s for the past 35 years and can tell you that althpoough you can eat orinoco bananas out of hand. They do have like a gristle chewy part in their centers. Thus making them the frying banana of choice for me. They will become like candy when fried once they are ripened. But there is no comparison in the two of them. D. Brazilian are definitely a desert banana.

DBs are a dual purpose banana. Excellent cooked while the peel is still green. But much better eating out of hand.
