Hi,

my friend Helton got seeds from Rarepalmseeds labeled as Musa schizocarpa, he gave me then pups of the seedlings last year. And now they flowered and are totally different. Not Musa schizocarpa, the seeds were mislabeled, one supplier has mistaken or even scammed. I surmise that they might be Musa velutina. Am I right?

Here the photos:

Yo Joachim: Tony at rare palm seeds.com is a straight up guy. If your buddy emails him and tells him of a mislabeling problem, he will make it right! I have done business with him for palm seeds, with no problems.

FYI..Tom

It is a hybrid of M. velutina and something else, perhaps M. ornata. It has M. velutina in it, but is not pure.

You shouldn't be surprised, it happens all the time.

Yes, it might be. It is more like Musa "Anestor". I will watch my both plants in my special garden at my pond. Gabe15, you might be right, it is not one clearly pure Musa velutina.

Best wishes
