I got most of my tropicals inside the house, but found that I do not have room for a few bananas. These are some (probably) dwarf cavendish, although they could be super dwarfs.
I want to try cold storage for these, and have read a bunch of threads, but still have some questions.
I do not have a basement or crawlspace, so I will use my attached, unheated garage. I haven't monitored the temps before, but I usually have a few pots of EE that overwinter fine. I did try a few pots of zebrinas one year, and they did not survive.

Is there a minimum size that is needed? I am using the biggest plants I've got are about 12" to 18" tall and about 5" to 7" circumference pstem.
Still not sure what to do about the leaves: Leave them on, let them get cold-killed then cut them, or what?
So they really can just lay in the garage without any other protection?
I will put a thermometer in there; what would be a minimum temp?

What else do I need to consider?

I heard Cavendish doesn't dry store good. I think your better of putting them in dry dirt upright if your not going to be heated in any way. :^)

Ah, I do recall that about the Dwarf Cav. Shoot.
Any comments on whether keeping them in pots of soil will work in a garage?

I might be able to find room in a closet in the house. It's probably about 65F in there.

In a Closet w/ a grow bulb.. might be warmer than 65F.. :^)
