Howdy do ? I live in Alabama. I don't have my profile set up yet. Just glad to be here.
I grew several banana plants years ago but shortly after I got started , we moved and i gave the plants away cause I didn't have a place to grow them, not even indoors.
I am really excited about growing banana plants again. I was searching the web on How To grow the Dwarf Cavendish and came across this web site.
I don't have banana plants yet but they are on their way in the mail and I knew I better get ready before they get here.
I use to have a friend who grew banana plants and I got to watch it bloom and produce bananas. That friend past away a couple years ago.

I hope to learn a lot from everyone here and share info that I already know if needed.

Yes, I do love the search tab and it is my best friend.
I promise to always use search first before I ever bother anyone
with any questions.

Yo Cricket: Welcome Aboard! You might contact Sandy at Northern Tropics Greenhouse in Muncie, IN. She is a member of this forum. I got some baby 4" potted a few months ago and I am very delighted with her business ethics and integrity! She is a great supplier and member of our happy nanner group!

Stay Safe, Tom

Hey Cricket, "WAR EAGLE"!

I've heard of your town, but dog-gone-it, I don't know why. I think I knew somebody from Nauvoo, just can't remember who or when. I'm down at the very bottom of Alabama in Mobile county, in Bayou La Batre. Now I gotta go look you up and see where Nauvoo is.

Just wanted to say "welcome".

I grow 12-15 different bananas and for some of them this will be their first winter. Check back with me in the spring to see who made it through

Thanks for all the welcomes. So very happy to see all the bama growers too. :)
And Thanks for the extra info.
I also love elephant ears and cannas but I am just starting over on the elephant ears and cannas too. A deep long freeze killed mine out a couple years ago.....first time in my life time to have such a deep freeze and shortly after that, our home burned down and had to dozer it off and build a new house and still building as we go along in life. In the process of building a small lean to green house off the back door for easy heating by the cast iron wood burning heater inside the backdoor. (livingroom) Should have it covered by this evening. I also have a small greenhouse business and a couple of large greenhouses and another small greenhouse but I don't like heating those until I have to.

Hey Criket! We are from Greensboro, about 30 miles south of Tuscaloosa (Roll Tide)! :goteam:

Saw you War Eagles too! :drum:

But the bananas have won.

Welcome to the bunch, Criket. You will find a wealth of info here.

As for getting burned out, that is the pits. We got burned out in 2004,
and still trying to recover. We have been slowly rebuilding ever since.
We refuse to get into further debt with the economy like it is. So we
are just taking our time.

Some things will never be replaced, but life must go on. Thanks be to God
that things are as well as they are!

Thanks for the quote, so many just complain and do nothing to change their situation.
Good growing and stay healthy.
