Musa bauensis seems to germinate quite readily or I'm just lucky when it comes to seeds. Sowed 10 seeds sourced from Georgia Vines in vermiculite on Sept 19 and today found this inside the ziplock container I have them in.
I kept the container out in the garage since it alternates from around 90F during sunny days to 60-70F at night.

Now to move it to a container of potting medium and keep it alive to see if it really is m. bauensis...

Please keep us updated on your progress. My past experiences with seerd were not any good but have recently been fortunate enough to sprout 4 out of ten seed of sikkimensis. Thanks and good growing.

Unfortunately Helton never has luck with seeds from Musa bauensis, peekelii, hirta, schizocarpa and other bananas from Papua New Guinea and Borneo. I visited Helton on Oct. 22nd and looked at the pots where he sown the seeds, no result! Helton told me, that the seeds from Rarepalmseeds might be too old. He needs fresh seeds! I will write Tobias Spanner to request him to get new fresh harvested seeds from Borneo and Papua New Guinea.
And he germinated also Musa campestris. I saw the plant, the plant has already pups, he gave me one pup. The leaves are striped like Musa sikkimensis Red Tiger or Musa zebrina. Are younger plants of Musa campestris even striped??
Best wishes
Joachim

And six months after the last update
http://www.bananas.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=52801
It has finally put some size on after being repotted from the 2" pot it spent all winter in as well as being moved outdoors. Going to have to move it up to a larger pot soon since its already filled the orchid pot its in right now full of roots after a month of being in it.
