I noticed a couple of weeks ago (in September) that one of my Tenns Pear trees was in bloom. I asked Travis Callahan of Nafex Southern Pear Interest Group about it and he stated it was common his zone 9a Abbeville, LA for pears to bloom in the fall. After he emailed me that I checked and there was some bloom activity on a Hood, Florida Home, and southern Bartlett pear trees. I am in Zone 8b and this spring was stated to have arrived earlier than other springs so we were maybe more similar to a zone 9a.
Do any of the forum members here have any information on blooming of pear trees or other fruit trees during the fall?

I'd be a little worried about what will happen if you get a good freeze in a month

Of course we will get a freeze and the flowers or immature fruit will eventually die. Travis C. did not see a problem in that he opinioned that it acted to pre-thin the fruit for the next season preventing breaking branches which sometimes happens especially with the kieffers from being over loaded with fruit.
