Assuming a person could find them...I haven't looked.
How much would you expect to pay for 10 seeds of Musa Ingens? :lurk:
Hi !

Don't waste your money. There are various old threads on this site about the difficulty of germinating Musa Ingens. In fact impossible to do out of their native habitat. Even if you could get one to germinate their habitat is so difficult to replicate that they don't survive. Most seed sellers don't stock them anymore.

Actually I was talking to a gardener friend of mine, said she was thinking about bananas for the garden and I was telling her about THIS website and she was asking questions and the question came up about the biggest banana tree, so I told her it was the Musa Ingens and she wanted to know where to get it bla, bla, bla and how much she thought the seeds could be? and I said "Ya know? I don't have a clue...let me ask" I hadn't really given it enough thought to even go look a whole lot, I did a little last night and had no luck but didn't put much effort into either. Thanks for the replys though...dispite the frustration of germination not sure I couldn't help myself from purchasing a few if I found some readily available just for a shot at it...LOL

Musa itinerans would probably be a better choice, but that's hard to get a hold of too. It's often mislabeled.

You can't really until you grow them. They will turn out to be Yunnanensis 9.999999 times out of 10.

I'm sure there are a few members who grow Itinerans and other species bananas, but I don't hear much about them flowering and producing seeds. Seems to be more interest in edible bananas. Hey ho.
That would be an interesting project to see who is growing Itinerans and if any have flowered.
