Thanks for the link.As far as I understand, all varieties were created from more wild bananas with seeds. They did it with cross-polination right?

I tried to sand them an e-mail..............to get some Pups.............but the e-mail returns............
I have special interest in the varieties of Musa troglodytarum...........
Fouded in Micronesia.............Solomon Islands.............and French Polynesia................
They are not new varieties...............but instead of that.............they are very ancient strains of Banana....................maybe endangered............and few of them with the risk of extinction....................if not properly managed by Islands People...............
The main problem is due replacement of these cultures by Cavendish......or other modern strains of Banana...........that are more productive............
But..........Fei Bananas.......as they call it........Musa troglodytarum..........are very nice.............and have high levels of Carotenoids.............

Those are sure the fattest bananas I've ever seen! It's intresting how bunch grows upright, instead of leaning to a side like other varieties.

So it's called "karat banana" more offten, rather than "musa fei".
It seems this perticular variety is very high in provitamin A.What I can't find is information about the plant itself, growing conditions, temperature tolerance etc.
