Ae Ae #1, like the Phoenix, has risen from its own ashes! :2709:

This is the other Ae Ae that got blown over a few months ago. Never took off again after being stood up and tied down. So I potted it up three weeks ago. Checked it last week and all the leaves had dried up and the main pstem stopped pushing the cigar leaf. Tried to peel back the pstem to expose more cigar and new growth never happened. Five pups started to show.

Yesterday looked down at the trunk and saw a big bulge. Pried it open and found this inside ………………

Amazing to say the least! The screening was added cause some critter dug into the soil and made a bed for the night - friggin ratz!

If it was me I would plant it. That pot is way small.

This Ae pstem was planted with buds showing in a special blend of good stuff to kick start growth. Think I'll leave it alone till sure all the pups have their own roots and then repot them. Stressed corms produce suckers like crazy and the Ae is no exception. In this case the main pstem separated from all the visible pups during surgery and it may still produce more.

Last thing I ever expected was a bunch of Ae Ae suckers to deal with.

Post surgical view of the Phoenix in center of pot with 5 more suckers showing.
That's pronounced " PA_HO_NIX" by the way!

They all will go in separate pots when they have their own roots.

The mango seedlings are Pickering, Pina Colada, Simmons, Zill, Young and Kent. The Lancetilla and Edward failed to sprout.

The Pickering and Simmons should grow true since their seeds are polyembryonic. Scheduled for auction at the club.
