A couple of questions.
First, I noticed my maturing banana plants(ice cream, goldfinger and apple) they keep 10 fully healthy leafs on each plant at any one time. Is 10 a good number or should I have more at any one time?

When the bottom leaf starts loosing it folds down. I assume that is normal. Correct?

As always thanks for the all the help I cant from y'all.

Correct. At some point the oldest/older leaves will lose their integrity and start their process of falling off the plant. You can leave them or remove them if you don't like how they look. It is possible to have as many as 14 fronds - possibly more - on a banana plant but I am only aware of this with Orinoco. The more fronds there are the more growing they'll do - sun is food.

Thanks for the reply. I cut the bottom off of the leafs so they would not touch the ground.

Good to know about the leaf count.

I left the leaf dry..........they protect the pstem over heat..........

I keep 2 or 3 dry leaf close to the pstem...............

Here in Brazil excessive heat could be a problem.......

27 degrees is the optimum temp.........

But at 38 degrees the growth stops..............so I keep some dry leaves to give some shadow................

Specially in tall plants.............

If the plant have 3 dry leaves...........and one recent fall leave (a green one like yours).................I chop 2 older dry leaves...............and left the recent fall leave and one dry.................just to promote a shadow on pstem..........
