Hi,

I'm in Saskatchewan, and am wanting to grow a banana tree indoors (too cold here to grow outside)

I seen a couple videos on youtube, however they are showing seeds that are really big. Does that mean that the tiny seeds inside the bananas that you buy from the stores are not grow able?

Well anyway. This site looks like a great place to find a wealth of information.

You don't have to start with seeds unless you are just wanting to. Most start with a pup someone has sent them. As far North as you are I'm not sure what you would grow even indoors.

Howdy lu481: You will find lot's of info in this forum. Many caring knowledgable people, who are willing to help newbies! :-) I understand it is hell to get plants into Canada, so I would suggest looking, through the last couple weeks of this news group. Someone was saying the same thing and another reader told of a nanner grower, within the Canadian area, where you could get some plants.

If you are willing to work at it, I believe you could grow some dwarf types, inside with some heat, good light and perhaps on a porch! :-)

Hello,
I am in Vancouver and was wondering what your zone was as there are some "cold hardy" types that you should be able to grow but even those you might have to overwinter indoors, with the proper heat and light - but you would be restricted to the dwarf varieties (for height reasons). But if you are really serious about getting some I could probably supply you with some Canadian suppliers, once we know what you can and can't have.
Let me know,
Pam
