I planted my first banana,Ice Cream, in July and now ready to plant the second. How much space between the banana plants?

Depends what your goal is. If you want maximal fruit production per bunch, wide spacing is best. I think commercial growers usually use 6-12' or so, depending on mature size of the plant, etc. But if this at your house and you want a screen between you and the neighbors, you can plant them as close as you want. In practice, if you want it to be relatively easy to maintain mats (e.g., by removing pups), you'll want at least 5-6' between mats. I have some closer. It's hard to remove pups from those mats!

I will space 8 feet apart. This will allow more plants but not too close.

I have a lot of space to plant bananas so no need to plant so close. Eleven feet spacing is probably safer. I do not want to plant too close and then have to start over.

11ft apart sounds safe. If you are in zone 11, your banana canopies will overhang by 8ft or more depending on the species especially if you never expect them to die back.

They are also fairly easy to move since they don't make that many roots.

My Orinocos are six foot apart and they get large. I've had no problems YET.
