How long does it take them to get that big?

If planted in the spring, they should get to this size the following season.

Not sure on the deer issue - maybe poisonous?
They do flower, big long yellow thing. Not the most attractive.

I'm wondering if these would grow indoors in a container? I've got a good spot at work. Do you have any experience about trying to keep them indoors?
