I've tried to figure where to put this......
I need some snails.
Even though the brown garden snail is in Fl, the decollate snail isn't.
Is there anyone in California with a deviant nature? :lurk:
Specifically someone in Fresno, Imperial, Kern, Los Angeles, Madera, Orange, Riverside, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, San Diego, Ventura, or Tulare counties.
I've mounted a successful frontal assault with BB gun and flashlight and implemented a bait/crush bait/poison plan. This has reduced the population on my property by at least 5,000 many being the large breeding snails.
5,000 snails? REALLY?
I threw some papaya leaves in a hole and days later discovered hundreds, literally hundreds of snails eating them. Since then I have papaya piles all over have been crushing 200+ per day.
Metaldehyde baits are pricey and dangerous. The BB gun gets hard as the snails get around 1/4 inch or smaller. I could apply carbamates to the entire property through irrigation, but this is expensive and probably illegal.
I have got to get out in front of them.
Anyone?
P.S. don't say beer, copper, DE, shoes, salt, birds, leave them alone, snails are people too, etc
