Hi Everyone,
I just surfed in while trying to learn more about the Thai Red/Siam Ruby. I've been collecting brugmansias, elephant ears (Alocasia, Colocasia, Xanthosoma, etc.), gingers, the occasional banana and other large-flowers and flashy-foliage for quite a few years now.
I had a breakdown on the night of the coldest freeze this winter and lost about three quarters of my beloved plants. My 100+ named varieties of brugmansias are down to about 20, with similar losses among the other plant groups. I'm continuing to care for the pots, hoping that some will still resprout, but it's mainly a struggle with denial.
I won't know for sure what I will have multiple plants of for a little while yet. I would be grateful for any help in rebuilding my collection. I definitely have some Alocasia portodora, an Alocasia odora and a Colocasia fontanesii or two that are pulling through. As my brugs grow, I'll have cuttings and new plants available. Quite a few nice cultivars of Hedychiums/butterfly gingers are bravely sprouting, along with Zingiber mioga Dancing Crane.
Trades or plants-for-postage are very welcome. I'm looking forward to participating in this dedicated community.
