Being that I am in Wisconsin and my plants will have to come in I ordered some of the 2gal airpots to try to see if it will help keep the roots from rotting. I had some very large plants (10ft) and the 24" containers I thought were allowing the moisture out were not. By mid Feb the plants were pretty well gone. When I pulled them out the soil was very wet farther down and thus it contibted to the rot. I have cut back considerably on watering in winter (once a month) or so but that did not help. I placed an order from Sandy for some small Double Mahoi and bought 10 airpots on ebay to do a test. I will post pics when i get everything. Here is the site for airpots.

I also have 2 double mahoi about 3ft tall in smart pots that I will also be bringing in to compare. It just seems that the airpots might just be better.

I'm curious about your airpot trial. I almost bought a small tree (5') that was grown in an airpot. The owner said that the tree grown in a 3g airpot created a stronger tree with a denser radial root system compared to a tree grown in the same standard 3g pot.

I am growing a mango tree in a 12 gal airpot. They seem to work very well, this mango tree is one of the healthiest and has flushed the most leaves recently.

Here is the website that I placed my order from. They sell on ebay also. 10 - 2gal airpots for 64.00
Air Pots (case of 10) have unusual cuspated walls, sort of an egg box configuration, made up of closed inward pointing cones and open ended outward pointing cones. There are no flat surfaces on the inside of the container to deflect roots and start t (http://www.planetearthhydro.com/products/Air-Pots.html)

I received all 10 pots and planted double mahoi bananas tonight. I did take some pictures of the pot assembly and of the roots on the plants that were in the starter pots. However for some reason the photos won't upload. I have done it before and sized them down so they weren't too big. I started a new folder in my gallery and it says photo uploaded successfully but it is not there any ideas. I will try again tomorrow.
