As requested I am introducing myself to this banana forum.

My name is Rick and I reside in Vancouver Wa. About 5 years ago I picked up a little banana plant at Home Depot. I don't know what it is but it has become my little pet project and I have given pups to lots of friends.

Anyway last year I started reading up on banana trees to learn more about them. My plant is doing quite well in the Pacific NW and I thought if I take good care of it and protect it through the winter maybe it would produce some fruit. Right now I would say it is over 15 ft tall and growing like a weed.

Is there anyway I can put up a picture of it and one of you experts tell me what kind of variety it is?

Thanks

G.W.

maybe

some bananas are distinctive, then many more are nearly identical
flowers are the best way, yet not 100%

Home Depot offers a clue, as their selection is limited.

Welcome to the banana forum. I also live in the Pacific Northwest Puyallup area. You probably have a Basjoo because that is what they usually seem to carry every year at Home Depot and Lowes.
