When I finally got around to buying my DF at Lowes there was only one left. It was leaning over and looked a little scraggly, it has 2 plants coming up from the dirt 2 inches apart. One of them looks ok to start up as is, the other one has several sections (pieces?) in the first 2ft and looks a little weak. It does however have a healthy new 2in shoot at the base that is growing fast. Is it worth taking the top for clones and letting the new shoot grow out. Does anyone have an opinion on Lowes red DF quality. Is there a known red variety that is comparable. I ask because I want to get other varieties and dont want to get something too similar. Any tips on fruit festivals in CA would be appreciated.
Thanks for your help

Lowes sells different varieties, from what others have shared, without any of them being labeled as to name. It's largely a gamble as to the quality of plant.
The annual pitahaya festival will be at the end of the month in Irvine. Please visit http://cesandiego.ucdavis.edu/files/149685.pdf for more info.

I bought my physical graffiti dragon fruit at a local nursery here in Texas. Check out my videos.

Did your flowers bloom before they dropped off or did they just drop off when they were small? Physical Graffiti benefits from being pollinated by another variety, though I did get fruit last year on my PG when pollinating it with it's own pollen. If the buds dropped off before blooming I would guess it's a nutritional issue since the plant appears large enough to be fruiting.

it was growing the flowers, they didn't open yet. I didn't change anything though.
