Hi all,

One of my banana friend grows a sort of Nam Wah outside on the ground
neither in a green house nor in a condition controlled chamber,in about
the same environment of Zone 9b and he sent me a picture of its
flowering in a net growing period of 11 months excepting the winter months of Dec.-Mar.
That means 15 moths of total period of time from pup planting to its flowering.

To my experience and knowlege, it is impossible for a banana to flower in
such a short period of grwoing time especially in Zone 9b.
It would also not be possible even in Zone 10-11.

But he only insists that it is is true and a fact.

Could it be possile?

11 months of net growth time is very reasonable, especially considering it went through a winter. In Hawaii, it would even be long, we could be harvesting the first bunches at 11 months. Bananas are very fast and impressive plants when cared for properly.

Thanks for the replies and I also think it possible to do so if it has been
grown in such a warm place as Hawaii or somewhere else, or in a green
house or in a condition controlled chamber even in a cooler regeon.

But I sitll doubt it if it was grown on the ground in Zone 9b even through
the winter and this is the case.

Here it takes soonest about 20 months excepting 8 winter months, so
15 months flowering is a dream of the dreams.

What do you think?

It would be cool if you could get a pup off of it and test it at your zone. Then when you got pups you could send them someplace colder to see if they were still faster producing. (like maybe zone 5-indiana...LOL)
