Hi,

one friend, one scientist, will try breed bananas in one electrostatic field tu get mutations. He asked me, how is the minimum size of rhizome cuttings with one eye to propagate bananas successfully? Anyone knows, how large one rhizome cutting with one eye must be to survive and grow? I did not try propagate by rhizome cuttings, only by suckers in Brazil.

Best wishes
Joachim

A small piece of corm with its own roots and a sucker bud.

I have cut up a big corm mass from a 4 year old mat into 12 pieces, and everyone grew out a healthy sucker in their own pot. Takes a little longer than growing out a 2 to 3 ft sucker.

How were the sizes of the 12 pieces in cm or inches?

Large enough to have 3 or more good roots. About the size of a tennis ball at the minimum.

The corm has the mojo --- no mojo, no grow grow.

I just got a pup sliced off a corm, no roots but the base of the pup came off the corm itself. will that work for TCing?

If you can see rings where you have cut it, it's no good. If you can't see rings then you have the meristem, which is what you want. It's best to TC as soon as you've cut it so it doesn't dry out.
