Pics of my M. rubinea flowering. I have 2 different plants, one appears to be the more purple form but this one is appearing to be the nice red color that is shown on Nature Products.

This first one is the flower of my other M. rubinea plant that has not yet flowered for me but flowered last year for someone I gave a pup to a few years ago. This is more what I have seen, a more purple red color.

This one is mine that is flowering and appears to have the nice blood red coloration. It may be hard to tell in the photos but as of right now it is very red when looking at it in person for the most part with just a little purple on some of the margins. It has a 26in pseudostem in a 5gal container.

Gabe there is also an orange flowered Rubinea too.

I have a few pots of the red that I bought a few months back they seem to throw up lots of pups too.

They were all cut back stems when I got them and now they are just starting to put out new leaves.

Wow, Gabe, that's nice! How many hands of female bananas are there? From the picture, it almost looks like that plant has hermaphroditic flowers. Did you try pollinating it with anything?

so far there are 4 fingers, and yes they are bisexual as you noticed. i cant pollinate it with anything else because it beats me too it, i could go in a day early and do some surgery but this time i just want to enjoy it.

Thanks gabe . its all clear now:2760: . My next stupid question is how long do you get to transfer the pollen from male to female when I tried to get a basjoo fertilized the female flowers had dried up .

Banana flowers (of either sex) are usually only good for a few days at most. Male flowers usually last one day, maybe a day and a half, and female flowers last (for me, in my conditions) about 2 days at most.
