I just cut this sucker off for the second time. From the picture can you tell if I am cutting it off deep enough this time and at the proper angle? The sucker is an inch in diameter.

I found on the forum a really good drawing made by the Lady called Patty that passed away just recently I believe. In her memory I say thank you.

If you are cutting them off to throw them away, then you've done a good job. If you are removing them to propagate, then you've done a terrible job-it will never live. You must get a sucker with some of the corm attached, or at the very least, with some roots growing from the sucker you are removing. It looks to me like you are removing them when they are way too young to survive. heres a quick link i found via google; How to Separate Banana Sucker Plants | eHow.com (http://www.ehow.com/how_6177613_separate-banana-sucker-plants.html)

I agree its way to small an inch is a way to small to be cutting. I didnt read the size of our plant But still a good cut just cut more corm when you do your next cut when they get bigger.

I'm pretty sure he is just removing extra pups not trying to save them

My bad. I should have been more clear on my objective. Tony is right, these suckers are not for planting.

Thanks for the link, since sooner or latter I will harvest pups for planting.
