After having a couple flowers late in the year, I have finally had some bananas flower in the summer! We had a mild winter in Savannah and it made a difference.
One of my Viente Cohol's flowered last month, and the fruit, though very small, are plumping nicely. It seems to me they are already starting to turn a yellower shade of green. I'm planning on leaving these on until they are definitely yellow, or until the yard critters find them

My California gold flowered just after the other, but it is showing no signs of plumping.

And my Sweetheart has just started blooming the last 2 weeks.

Does anyone know how long these take to ripen?

VC takes really short, only about 60 days. Dunno about the others.

Just to follow up, I have had 3 bunches ripen so far this year. A small bunch from a Veinte Cohol flowered 6/17 and were picked 8/11. A larger VC bunch flowered around 7/16 and were falling off 9/9, and my California Gold flowered 6/20 and I just cut off the last of the bunch today. So in mid-summer Savannah the Veinte Cohol's took about 2 months to plump and turn yellow, while the California gold took 4 months. (I still have a Sweet Heart bunch that is just starting to turn after 3 months.

Awesome!!! Well done!!! :woohoonaner:

How many years have you been growing your bananas? Do you protect them in the winter? What are your usual winter lows?
