So I have a couple seedlings. They live and grow, but very slowly. They do live though. I recently found out about two possible varieties that can be grown and fruited in pots. Anyone grow this fruit in CA either in pots or in the ground?

I figure I might be able to do what the dwarf citrus growing people in the Midwest do in winter if I had too and just move it in the garage if I ever get one of those once a decade arctic blasts that drop it into the 20's.

Brian,

I am growing a 'Silas Woods' sapodilla in a container in SoCal. So far it has been very slow growing, don't expect any fruit from it for at least 3 years or so.

Makak is another one that supposedly will fruit in a container. I would probably try that or Silas Woods.

Basically mine have been extremely slow growers just sitting there for a year, adding 2 leaves the next year, and then the third year finally growing. I'm probably outside the marginal climate for keeping them outside even though I don't drop to the "killing" temperture.

I believe Alex at Papaya Tree Nursery in Granada Hills gets his to fruit.
