Hi Everybody, I was looking at my bananas in my sunroof yesterday and noticed these little things on the base of the psuedostem. I sprayed them with neem oil hoping it would take care of them, but tonight I checked and they were in a bigger colony on the psuedostem then before. They are only at the base and in the soil. They move quicker then lightning. I thought I saw something that looked like maybe an ant but bigger then these little guys. I just bought this house 2 years ago and was told they had a big problem with water ants any chance they may be juvenile water ants. Any help on getting rid of them of and ID would be appreciated.

Yes I agree with Tony looks like mealy bugs.
Water will blast them away. Direct Sunlight will drive them away. Soapy water 1 to 2 tea spoons per gallon (Green Palmolive) no substitutes and Neem oil should take care of them .. You spray it on them using a atomizer like from a dollar store , or old perfectly clean Windex sprayer ..
DO NOT USE WINDEX just the sprayer is what Im saying.. Those are all females laying eggs in every nook and crany they can find. The faster you spray the better you do ..Respray in 10 days
