I fertilized my Basjoo one week ago. After i fertilized it a new leaf unfolded it seemed a little on the flimsy side. Then the next leaf unfolded in only 3 days! It was extremely thin and slightly deformed. The next leaf is already almost out. This morning we had a thunderstorm and one of the leaves was severe damaged the other completely fell off. Im worried about the next leaves. BTW i am using a 24-8-16 liquid fertilizer.

For bananas you want an NPK with a ratio of medium-low-high. I use 6-3-16. With minors of course. Find an Ag supplier near you. For a new planting -- 1 lb per month. Mature mat -- 2 lbs.

Ok I will find some of that type of fertilizer or something similar. I shouldn't have a problem finding an ag supplier after all I live on a farm. Who knows maybe the fertilizer we use on our fields is a medium low high type. I will check tommorow

I was so happy when I found an Ag supplier nearby. Twenty two bucks and change for 50 lbs as opposed to over $50 for 40 lbs at a retail nursery.

It's also good to supplement with Purdue chicken litter -- also known as Microstart 60. Two cups every 2 weeks on each mat. Great for everything else inground or potted. I also do a drench once in a while with a solution of Fish Emulsion, Kelp and Humic acid.
