Tomorrow I'm heading off for a 10 day vacation in Costa Rica. I won't be able to post while I'm there, but I'll make sure to get plenty of pictures there :08:

What part are you going to? If you're anywhere near Arenal Volcano- I highly recommend Tabacon hot springs. It has the most amazing landscaping and small beautiful pools...

Well, I just managed to post this from my iPod touch. So I'll still be around over my trip despite my lack of a computer. There are all sorts of exotic plants growing out here, so I'll be sure to get plenty of pics. Thanks everyone! :)

The diversity of plant life here is amazing. So far, out of the edibles, I've seen several varieties of bananas, at least two varieties of mangoes, papaya, star fruit, rose apple, breadfruit, lime, coconut, caimito (star apple), Mexican breadfruit (Monstera deliciosa), noni, and soncoya (a relative of cherimoya). These are all growing in the complex that the house I'm staying in is in.

Have a great trip! CR is on my list of places to go soon. We are going to the USVI in the fall. Looking forward to that!

I just got home, and returned to find my plants happier than ever! I gave them a nice healthy dose of fertilizer before I left, and that seems to have perked them up a lot. Ice Cream produced 2 leaves in 10 days and is producing its fifth pup. Mysore is producing another pup and finally looking healthy, my first unknown plant is looking very healthy and finally gaining some height, and my second unknown plant is lagging behind because it's still getting choked out by the grass (I might end up getting rid of that one). Also, three of my DF cuttings are budding out.

All in all, I have to say that this trip is definitely a do-over. I plan on studying abroad there for a quarter in 2013. For those of you who are thinking about making the trip, I say go for it :)

Obviously you should be back from Costa Rica. How did you like it?

Living here is a dream but not near the coast. It's too hot down there.

I live up in Ciudad Colon about 11 miles due west of San Jose. Temps here range between 15C (65F) and 30C (80F) year round.

It was a lot of fun. I'm hoping to study abroad there sometime in college, so that I get to spend even more time there.

The U.N. University of Peace is quite near us if you are interested in studies in that direction.
