I have an mystery plant that produces heavy bunches, the fruit is soft & sweet before it has any yellow. I would like to narrow my search of which variety it might be.

Not sure about musa but here in Fla we have several mangos that are ripe when still green. They are called thief-proofs.

Most fruit grabbers think red and yellow means ripe. And they don't know mangos ripen eventually after picking.

Hobbyists will plant these guys outside the fence. No problem till a savvy thief spots them.

Sorry for the dee-rail.:nanadrink: I'm currently at war with the 4 footed mango raiders. Little Rat Bestids!

Are they real rats or squirrels. Rats are just too dumb to ever be a problem.

Bungulan (also called Pisang Masak Hijau, Montecristo, sometimes Lakatan) is one of them. It has a very short 'shelf-life' and must be eaten soon after harvesting to avoid spoilage.

There are actually many green-ripe bananas. If you can post photos of the fruit bunch on the plant, perhaps we can take a guess.

All of the plants in the photo are in the same 300 sq ft mat planted in 1997.

Now that the rain stopped will be setting the one door trap up tomorrow after I get a couple of supermarket Tommy Atkins. Only thing they are good for - trap bait. Then Ill know for sure. Many mango growers I know south of me are loaded with squirrels. But it could be possum or raccoons.

PR, looks like a Cavendish to me. Some of them ripen green in the tropics if you leave them on the plant.

The photo of the hand is 11 days after harvest, but I started eating them as soon as I cut it down. This was a small bunch, normally there are about 15 hands, 350+ fruit, 100+ lbs. Is this typical of a cavendish, the flavor is great but not as great as a tall red.

That many fruit is not typical of Cavendish, but the whole green ripe thing is definitely a Cavendish quality. I have a hard time selling them unless I bag them and hang them for a while so that they get some ethylene to turn yellow.
