my friend brought me some cannas from the coast these where in a bag and some of the growth where up to 6 inches out of the bulb so I planted them in the ground a few inches deep and left 4 inches growing out above the ground. Attached is a pic of these question is did I plant these right? will this straighten up? is there anything I need to do?

I have a lot of experience with cannas. They are pretty hard to do any malice as long as they have lotsa' water and sun. They'll do fine with those two ingredients. Good luck!

Agreed. Enjoy! If you are zone 7b or warmer you should be able to leave 'em in the ground over the winter, if 7a, need a warm winter like this past one. Otherwise dig the corm after 1st frost to store.

I am just not sure if I should bury the bulb deeper with the new growth can't find any post on how deep bulb with growth should be.

here in utah i plant my cannas musafolia on the deeper side.. but i plant them earlier than most.. just in case of a late frost.. which didnt happen this yr.. oh well..LOL
i plant mine with 4" of soil on top.. i also dig in deeper perlite, compost,
and slow release fertilizer..
mine get total full sun ..and i keep them well watered..
depends on what variety you have.. my musafolia get huge.. 12ft+ tall
and last yr.. almost all of them bloomed.. thats good for up here..
:woohoonaner:
i give mine compost/rabbit manure tea fertilizing every week.. in addition to
the watering..
i agree with sidpook.. lots of sun..lots of water..
keep the canna rhyzomes healthy.. fends off disease..and i wonder also
virus'..
good luck to ya !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even if it doesn't straighten up completely the next shoot would be straight.
