I bought this Musa Double Mahoi Banana plant off ebay from floridahillnursery.com. It arrived saturday 6/9/2012. I planted it in organic soil which had bark in it i did a 50/50 mix with worm castings in a 1 gallon smart pot. I water thoughrly. i have read every where that worm castings will not cause nute burn but to me it looks like it has nute burn/ N Defiency so i watered it again yesterday because the pot was extremely light which i figured it ment soil was dry. This time when i watered it i used 180 ppm water {water is normally 80 ppm} with general hydroponics flora nova. one of the leaves brown spots has a rip in it and the leaves are i guess sweating because they are wet. Its currently inside with 74-75 degrees ac on. Any help would be appreciated i just dont want this to die.....

I don't know that you've got any significant problem going on. Just give it some time and don't let the soil get too dry but don't water it too much either. Is it getting much light inside? Where do you live? Do you plan to keep it inside? If you move it outside it should be in filtered light until it starts growing more.

To me the soil looks dry.Peat base soil are hard to get wet. I would put pot and all in a bucket add some water and let it soak. Then give it good light but not direct sun

Right now i live in Maryland but end of next month i am moving to Aiken Sc. its getting some light i would say atleast 8 hrs of light. When i move its gonna be outside more and then planted we we get our own place since we will be staying with family for a few months. I was planning on watering every every 4 days or when the pot felt lite.

When you set it in a bucket you can see when the water has wicked up to the top, that's all it needs. If you feel that it is wet at the root ball/corm than leave it .Don't water again until it has dried out some.

Yeah, like Tony says. :) You can always stick your finger into the soil a few inches to check if it feels moist.
