I have allways thought this to be a Dwarf Cavendish. Had it for two years now but never removed any pups or repotted so it's a bit stunted. It also got some damage from the BBQ one night. I told it not to get so close to the fire.

Lol, still looks good to me despite the "too close to the fire" episode, lol. I wonder how you all can know if it is dwarf cavendish or if it is any other cavendish variety?

And the answer is
:drum:
You have to get it up to size and fruit it. Maybe another 4 years??
Could be super dwarf or any other cavendish variety.

So will I be able to tell for sure by the fruit?

Combination of fruit size/quantity and size of the plant at bloom should give some direction towards figuring it out.

The stature is not right for 'SDC', and since 'Dwarf Cavendish' is such a rediculously common banana, chances are that you own one. It is always possible that you own a different Cavendish cultivar, like 'Gran Nain', 'Mahoi' or 'Williams' but they are not as readlity available in nurseries or as widley sold as the "regular" 'Dwarf Cavendish'.

Thanks guys. I may re-pot it and remove some of the pups and then we'll see what happens.
