So I recently moved to a home with a thriving banana stand. Turns out they are likely balbisiana and not edible. So, I love bananas and am looking for recommendations to plant some which are edible. I have plenty of space and sun next to a canal.
Will be happy trade some of my balbisiana pups
Thanks for any suggestions

I agree with Tony, it is hard to beat a "Namwah" variety for being bulletproof. If you want a shorter plant, go with Dwarf Namwah. If you want a taller plant, the ones that are normally sold in the US as "Misi Luki", "Ice Cream", and tall Namwah seem to all be the same, or very similar.
Beyond Namwah, the best tasting bananas I've had have all been some type of Mysore or other: Mysore, Pisang Ceylon, or Pisang Klotek.
Then there's a bunch of tough, productive, tasty ones like Dwarf Brazilian, Goldfinger and FHIA 18 (which both share Dwarf Brazilian parentage).

Hello All Members,
I would like to purchase a couple of Plantain banana plants.
The one that you can purchase in the supermarket.
(Platanos Maduros) Does anyone know where I can purchase this plant?

I have had no problems buying plants off craigslist in your area.
For more results use the word banana as the keyword in the farm and garden section and look at the selection of plants.
As of this morning there are many good choices
I have found most big box stores generally sell plantains in small containers also.
There are forum members in the area that hopefully will chime in and steer you in the right direction.
Good luck

If you are far enough south get a Red Kru!! Other wise, you are welcome to drive up and grab anything you want from my yard.
