I thought I saw a half leaf emerging the other day and I was right. It is a half leaf and the flag is following. I may this year sucessfully fruit three varieties. I'm stoked. Hydroid and I looked at this one last year and were convinced it is a Goldfinger. We'll know shortly. Here are some pictures

We planted the Bananas in a bed with southern exposure in front of my house on the left is Ice Cream and center is Saba with Goldfinger on the right. July 6th, 2010 1617

Now June 3 2012 the Ice cream has a bloom and the Goldfinger is pushing one.

My Goldfinger has wine stains on the leaves but it is at 5-6 leaves so maybe they fade with time.

I have several suspected Goldfinger bananas. None of mine have had wine stains. I should have confirmation in about a week I guess.

I was just out looking and noticed that my suspected Goldfinger has a whiteish powder that comes off on your finger if you rub it. I thought that was associated with Ice Cream. I'm really confused now?

Tony the picture you posted is not a goldfinger. Is this correct?

It is Goldfinger pup. The question about wine stain on Goldfinger was brought up before and this was the pic I posted

Darkman the closeup looks exactly like my Goldfinger with the red along the Petiole. I'm pretty sure that's a Goldfinger you have. I hear the fruit is tasty with a hint of lemon taste.

I just read that Goldfingers come from a Brazilian cross. Brazilians have red splotches on their new leaves, so I can see why they maybe there.

What others have you fruited in your area? I'm so excited my Raja Puri is blooming right now~! I'm hoping some others soon follow because I want them to have time to ripen!

I'm still pretty new only have planted my pups in July of 2010. I have only fruited the Orinoco which I really enjoyed. My Goldfinger and maybe an IC or TN is blooming now. I have DR, DN, RP, and PK that I may get to bloom next year.

I need my blooms in the next three to five weeks to be comfortable with them ripening before frost.

Yeah you're in the same zone as me so I'm needing mine pretty soon too! I'm going to fertilize tomorrow I missed last month :( Hopefully I will get at least one or two more. I have forty bananas in the ground here. Keep us updated if you get anymore blooms! I planted most of mine in June last year when I got them from Chris. I have a few more I'm going to put in the ground here shortly I believe. I need to research them as I'm not sure how hardy they are here. I got Golden Aromatic, Dwarf Puerto Rican, Manzano and Ice Cream I also got Pisang Juri Buaya but this is not hardy here so it will be greenhoused for me.

It looks so much like my RP! I am watching and waiting for my Praying Hands to open and I have 3 others in the ground (PH) that are quite a bit bigger than the one that has a bud getting ready to open. I'm hoping that I have a few more to bloom here shortly. Any new paddle leaves or anything your way?

Sunfish replied to my ID request and said it is Goldfinger and I'm good with that!

Nothing yet but I keep checking. Like you I'd like to get a few more blooms with a good probability of ripening before Winter.

I just googled some photos and they look extremely alike when they first open however the hands are completely different the goldfinger looks as if it forms close together and the Raja spreads :-) Keep updating with photos. I'm hoping that my Praying hands will open in the next few days !
