Hey everyone I want to introduce myself
Im in NY and just got my first musa basjoo
Looking forward to growing bananas
Next one I'm looking for it ensete maurelii
If there is anyone fro NY LI hit me up If u have any naners for sale.Which ones are best to grow in our zone

Welcome! I have the same climate as you since we live pretty close by. Basjoos are hardy for sure here, mine were not mulched this past winter and came back from the ground (and they were really sickly this past summer for some reason).
Right now Im growing Ice Cream, Saba, Basjoo, Maurelli, Bordelon, and Thai Black.
Last year I had a Velutina but that didnt survive the winter and I have had a good share of cavendishes throughout the years!
Good luck! Basjoo is the only reliable banana here, but you can grow just about any banana if you dig it up in the fall and I personally like the tropical bananas the best and they are sometimes easier to care for than the hardy ones ironically enough!

The basjoo and Ensete were both local, but all the others were from online. They grow pretty fast so it only takes a summer for them to get to be a good size and they will be large after 2-3 summers!
