Hello and welcome to the Org!
I live down south of you South Florida so all my Musa are not so in need of cold tolerate as your might need to be . Here is a short list of some that might do well for you
Ice Cream, Saba, Basjoo, Namwa, Goldfinger (FHIA-1), FHIA-3, Mysore, Praying Hands, Orinoco, Kandrian, Misi Luki, Cardaba
out of that list I like:
Ice Cream
Namwa
Goldfinger
Orinco
Its best (I think) to decide of what height you want to deal with. Some are 9 feeet some are 14 feet and then get the one you want :) … Also there are a lot of peeps on this list in your same zone and you will get great advice from them ..

Welcome from Near Charlotte NC- Charleston should let you grow lots of kinds of bananas, but it still may be a challenge if you want fruit...
What are your goals- fruit or just looks?
Ice Cream (Blue Java) is pretty much a dessert banana; the Orinocos can be eaten out of hand or fried, as in TOSTONES (or even boiled, I hear).
Orinoco are one of the few that can be allowed to ripen (turn yellow) on the plant without splitting.
:lurk:
Near the house is a good spot for the dwarf varieties & they can pick up some extra cold protection in the winter months.

I think Dwarf Namwah, Raja Puri, Orinoco, Dwarf Brazilian would work for you. What part of Charleston?
